Your privacy, plainly

Sport Signal is operated by Sportscasters Pty Ltd (ABN 25 694 080 816), based in Australia. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
We collect the minimum we need to run Sport Signal, we never sell your data, your real name and email stay private, and we take child safety extremely seriously. The detail is below.
What we collect
- Account basics: your email address (to sign you in), and optionally a display name, handle, real name and tribe. A mobile number is optional and only used if you choose the SMS sign-in fallback.
- What you create: messages, reactions, polls, tips and any photos you post.
- How you use the app: we count anonymous usage (which screens are opened, how long the app is used, roughly how many people are on) so we can understand which parts of the app people use. These counts use a random id that is never linked to your account, we never read your messages for this, and nothing is shared with third-party analytics companies — there is no analytics SDK in the app.
How we use it
To run the live experience (rooms, reactions, tips, crews), to sign you in, to keep the community safe, and to improve the product. We do not sell your personal information, and we don't show you third-party ad tracking.
Public vs private
Public: your display name, handle, avatar, tribe, and anything you post. Private, and never shown to other users: your real name, email and any phone number. We only use your real name so we can talk to you like a human, never to expose you to other fans.
Signing in
Sign-in is passwordless: we email you a one-time 6-digit code. We don't store passwords, so there's no password to leak. Your session stays active until you sign out.
Keeping the community safe
We use profanity filtering, in-app reporting and blocking, and AI-assisted moderation with escalation to human review. You can block anyone, and report any message or person, at any time. Our Terms of Use set out the zero-tolerance standard we hold everyone to.
Child safety
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Every image uploaded to Sport Signal is scanned against known-CSAM hash databases before it can be shown to anyone. Suspected material is blocked automatically, and confirmed material is reported to the appropriate authority, in Australia the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE), and the account actioned. We cooperate fully with law enforcement on these matters.
Photos
Photos you attach are stored privately and served only to your crew through the app, never from a public link. They're safety-scanned (see Child safety) before anyone can see them.
Keeping & deleting your data
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the You tab in the app, which removes your profile and content from the live app. Secure, encrypted backups may retain data for a short period (around 30 days) before they age out. If you can't get to the app, email us at privacy@sportsignal.live and we'll do it for you.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted to people who need it to run the service, and we host with reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take protecting your information seriously.
Who we share with
Only the service providers we need to operate, for example hosting, database and email-delivery providers, under agreements that protect your data. We share information with law enforcement where the law requires it, or to protect people from harm (including child-safety matters). We never sell your data.
Advertising
Sport Signal is free, and some of what you see is paid for by sponsors and partners. Sponsored placements are marked. We count whether an ad was actually on screen, using an anonymous per-device identifier, so we can report honestly to sponsors. We don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't share this with advertising networks or data brokers.
Your choices
You can edit your display name, handle and details, set who can invite you, block other users, control notifications, and delete your account, all from the You tab. To ask what we hold about you, or to request deletion another way, contact us below.
Changes
We'll update this policy as Sport Signal grows and will revise the date at the top when we do. Significant changes will be flagged in the app.
